About

About

This site focuses on Catherine Jagiellon (1526-83), Princess of Poland and Duchess of Finland, and her possessions in contemporary inventories. We’ll also be taking peeks at people around her – her court members and family, as well as people living in Finland and her home castle in Turku. The site is intended for you who are interested in Renaissance clothing and material culture with a focus on East and North Europe, as well as princes and princesses.

Your interpreter along the journey is Nina, a doctoral researcher on the subject. In her Master’s thesis, she examined Catherine’s clothing, and in the upcoming research, she will cover all possessions listed in the documents. She has also given various courses, talks, lectures, and interviews, and written several articles on the subject.
