We visited Stockholm Royal Palace Archives to return to the inventory lists of 1563. These include Catherine Jagiellon and Duke John’s possessions used in Turku Castle.
The Polish Princess Catherine Jagiellon married John, Duke of Finland; was imprisoned by Eric, King of Sweden; and finally, became Queen of Sweden.
First steps in reconstructing a green gown belonging to Turku burgher Walborg Henriksdotter. We can find the gown with Walborg’s other clothes and possessions in the lists of plundered property from 1563.
Catherine Jagiellon’s wardrobe was filled with valuable and luxurious furs of e.g. sable, beaver, and dormouse. Lesser valued marten and fox furs were used in liveries of her ladies-in-waiting.
